Health PEI worked closely with a planning firm (CannonDesign) to develop a comprehensive operational planning review to determine opportunities, gaps, and what Islanders need most for a new Mental Health and Addictions Campus. This work was the first step towards building a real community-first health care system.
As per recommendations in the Cannon Report, the province is undertaking innovative approaches to co-locate mental health and addictions services and primary care clinics. Community Health Centers (CHCs) being developed in Alberton, Summerside, Charlottetown and Montague will enhance collaboration between primary care and mental health and addictions services and provide clients with improved access to integrated care in community.
The first CHC will be located in Alberton and is currently under construction.
Updates on this program area will be posted as soon as available. Please check back.
